Teaching Philosophy
My goal with all of my students is to give them all of the tools they need to be able to figure out any piece of music that is thrown their way. Through a myriad of techniques, I prepare students to be independent and competent musicians as well as critical thinkers.
Practice Expectations
Time spent practicing is the most essential part of a student being successful. After our weekly 30-minute lesson, each student is expected to go home and practice every day for at least 20 minutes (depending on skill level and difficulty of the piece). I will help guide students through how they should approach practicing, but parental involvement is crucial to a students’ success.
Lesson Scheduling
Lessons are held on a weekly basis throughout the school year and can be rescheduled via text, phone call, or email. Each lesson will be 30-minutes once a week* on the same day and time each week (i.e. Monday’s at 3:00 p.m.). A calendar of when lessons are held will be posted before the 2024-2025 session begins including days lessons will not be held.
*Options for two 30-minute lessons weekly are available as well. Student must be approved by Ms. Hall before signing up.
Lesson Cancellations/Rescheduling
Emergencies and bad weather conditions are unpredictable and unavoidable! Snow days are determined if our local school district (Wrightstown Community School District) declares a snow day. If you need to cancel a lesson or reschedule, please text or call Chloe at least two hours before your lesson. Monthly rates remain the same.
Weekly Group Lessons
Every Friday at 3:30 p.m., a group lesson will be held. All students are highly encouraged to attend, as this is a time of making friends, playing music games, talking music theory, and sharing what they’ve learned.
Recitals
Three recitals will be held per year: Winter (early December), Spring (late May), and Summer (August). Students who are enrolled in lessons are expected to participate in recitals unless traveling or in emergency circumstances.
Summer Lessons
Summer lessons are held between mid-June and the end of August (12 weeks). These lessons occur weekly and are 30-minutes, and include a recital at the end of the summer.
Lesson payments are to be paid on the first week of the month by check, cash, or venmo (@chloemhall).
Books & Required Texts
Books will be purchased by the instructor and added to the monthly bill. Books should only need to be purchased once per year, but this depends on the student and their learning styles and needs. Books and materials typically cost $25-35.
